Delinquent Accounts:

All utility payments are due by the last day of each month.  If the City of Everson has not received payment by the end of the day on the due date a $5.00 late fee will be applied and show up on the next months’ bill.

There are a couple of steps that the City takes prior to disconnecting your services. It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with our procedures, so you can avoid being surprised by a disconnection due to an unpaid balance.

Step 1: Reminder Notice
If the City hasn’t received a customer’s payment by the middle of the month following when the payment was due, we will mail out a pink delinquent notice. This is done through regular mail (USPS), so be sure to notify us of any changes to your mailing address.
There are no repercussions to receiving a reminder notice. It only serves the purpose of reminding customers that a utility bill payment for the previous month may have been forgotten. Customers who receive a reminder notice need to have payment submitted to City Hall to avoid further action.

Step 2: Door Hanger with $10 Penalty
After the reminder notices are mailed out to all delinquent accounts, the city will issue a door hanger if payment isn’t received by 12:00 p.m. one day prior to shut off day. The shut off day falls anywhere between the 24th-28th of the month depending on the month and how holidays/weekends fall. This 24-hour notice has a $10 fee associated with it. This notice is red and gets delivered to the property address and placed in the door.  This notice lets you know water will be shut off if payment isn’t received by 12:00 p.m. on the next business day.

Step 3: Shut Off
A $60 fee will be issued if a payment hasn't been made by 12:00 p.m. the next business day, after receiving a red door hanger. The City will then disconnect your utilities. We cannot make any exceptions once this process is started. If the customer’s utilities are disconnected, we cannot reconnect the utilities until the entire balance on the account is paid in full (this includes past due balances, penalties, and fees).
